About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled IT Infrastructure Specialist to join our team at InsideHigherEd. As a key member of our technical operations team, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and reliable operation of computer systems and servers.

Key Responsibilities

  • System Administration
    • Manage and maintain Windows Server systems, including analysis, design, development, documentation, creation, testing, and modification.
    • Monitor and maintain system security, availability, and performance.
  • Backup and Recovery
    • Perform backup and recovery of Windows servers and data, including annual testing.
  • Virtualization and Cloud Integration
    • Design, install, and maintain virtualization infrastructure.
    • Administer enterprise SaaS applications based on system design specifications.
  • User Support
    • Assist users with server, software, and hardware support issues.

Requirements

  • Education
    • Associate degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Technical Skills
    • Windows Operating Systems: In-depth understanding of Windows Server operating systems (2016, 2019, 2022) and Windows desktop operating systems (10, 11).
    • Active Directory and Group Policy: Comprehensive knowledge of Active Directory (AD) infrastructure.
    • Networking Fundamentals: Strong understanding of networking concepts.
    • PowerShell and Scripting Languages: Advanced knowledge of PowerShell scripting.
    • Security Best Practices: Familiarity with security frameworks and best practices.
    • Virtualization Technologies: Understanding of virtualization principles and tools.
    • Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Understanding of tools and techniques for monitoring system performance.
    • Troubleshooting Methodologies: Strong foundation in troubleshooting methodologies.
    • Cloud Integration: Familiarity with cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure.
  • Soft Skills
    • Strong customer service orientation.
    • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
    • Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills.
    • Adept at reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation.
