Overview

Wish of a Lifetime from AARP (WOL) grants wishes to people 65-plus connecting them to their passions in recognition of their special accomplishments, contributions, and sacrifices. WOL helps people achieve long-held goals while also combatting the negative effects of isolation and strengthening social ties and intergenerational connections.

The Volunteer Engagement Manager (Midwest Region) establishes volunteer partnerships and leverages internal and external resources to achieve the organization's volunteer engagement goals. Develops, advises, supports, coordinates, and collaborates on strategic volunteer engagement projects and technologies. Anticipates volunteer needs and designs materials, processes, trainings, and programs to maximize volunteer engagement. Collaborates with management to identify opportunities to streamline processes and to develop new procedures that support the business unit/department.

Responsibilities

Anticipates volunteer needs and designs materials, processes, procedures, and programs to best meet those needs. Develops and implements volunteer training and leadership programs. Supports volunteer needs and designs opportunities to maximize volunteer engagement. Leverages internal and external resources including cross functional teams, volunteers and members to achieve organizational volunteer engagement goals. Recruits, trains, develops, and deploys volunteers in accordance with organizational goals. Aligns volunteers' interests and needs with organizational priorities to design opportunities to maximize volunteer engagement. Ensures inclusion of volunteer perspectives in strategic planning. Works with cross-functional teams in the advancement of state and national volunteer strategies and goals. Assists volunteers, staff partners, and external volunteer organizations across multiple channels to ensure individuals can effectively contribute to organizational goals and give back to their communities.
Qualifications

Possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Have at least 5 years of experience working in either the senior living space, volunteer-driven, non-profit space, sales teams, or grassroots organizing efforts. Demonstrate a solid understanding of volunteer needs and develop materials, processes, procedures, and programs that effectively meet those needs. Possess the ability to utilize available resources, including cross-functional teams, volunteers, and members, to achieve organizational engagement goals. Utilize technology to support volunteers and effectively track community engagements. Exhibit the ability to engage in public speaking to large community groups and you must be able to drive. Work creatively and collaboratively with a diverse team to achieve common goals.
Preferred:

Ability to speak Spanish and reside in Minneapolis, MN or surrounding areas.

Hybrid Work Environment

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as remote workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work can only be done within the United States and its territories.
