Job Overview

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with residents, families, caregivers, and staff, representing the organization in alignment with its core values.
  • Oversee the planning, promotion, budgeting, and execution of various recreational events and programs.
  • Curate a comprehensive monthly activities calendar that caters to Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Care Suites residents, ensuring a diverse and engaging program offering.
  • Serve as the 'editor in chief' for the monthly newsletter, collaborating with staff and residents to produce informative and entertaining content.
  • Collaborate with external vendors, including entertainers, to enrich the activities schedule with a variety of cultural, educational, and recreational offerings.
  • Supervise and mentor activities personnel, providing guidance, performance evaluations, and corrective action as necessary.
  • Work alongside the Director of Nursing to support the training and development of Resident Assistants involved in leading activities.
  • Manage the scheduling and operation of the Theater, including film selection and staff training, while creatively utilizing the space for educational and community events.
  • Promote volunteer engagement through recruitment, training, supervision, and recognition initiatives, maintaining comprehensive records on volunteer participation.
  • Engage with the Resident Council and other committees to design, implement, and assess resident-driven activities and programs.
  • Coordinate transportation logistics for external events in accordance with established policies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Gerontology, Human Services, Therapeutic Recreation, Social Services, or related field, or a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in senior program management.
  • At least 2 years of experience in activities coordination within retirement, assisted living, or long-term care settings.
  • Proficient in basic computer applications, including Windows and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a Class C Driver's License for transportation duties.
  • Demonstrated creativity in developing and planning engaging activity programs.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in group facilitation and individual resident engagement.
  • Background in financial management and budgeting practices.
