SIR operates as a 501(c)(6) professional association, serving nearly 9,000 interventional radiology physicians, trainees, medical students, scientists, and clinical professionals.
Additionally, SIR encompasses the SIR Foundation, a 501(c)(3) entity focused on research and fundraising to propel the future of interventional radiology.
With nearly 50 staff members, combined annual revenues of $10 million, and assets totaling $18 million, SIR is a dynamic organization.
Position OverviewSIR is eager to welcome a Volunteer Engagement Intern to collaborate with our dedicated staff and membership.
This position will play a vital role within the society's membership and volunteer team, engaging regularly with both staff and physician volunteers.
The intern will assist the Manager of Volunteer Engagement in coordinating activities for the society's three membership sections: Early Career Section (ECS), Underrepresented Minorities in IR (URM), and Women in IR (WIR).
Responsibilities will include supporting section projects and educational webinars, aiding in the planning of the society's scientific annual meeting, leading various volunteer opportunities, and finalizing internal and external materials for the society's volunteer program and online community forum.
This is a remote internship offering flexibility in hours, requiring a commitment of 10 to 15 hours per week. The majority of hours will be scheduled on Mondays and Fridays, with some evening availability required for online webinars.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead the planning, marketing, and execution of recorded and live webinars for the ECS, URM, and WIR sections.
- Support the society's ad-hoc volunteer opportunities by facilitating direct communication with volunteers.
- Collaborate with the Manager of Volunteer Engagement to finalize materials for the society's volunteer program and online community forum.
- Assist in the planning for SIR's Scientific Annual Meeting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficiency in MS Office (SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with G Suite tools (Google Docs, Google Forms, Google Sheets).
- Experience with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and other virtual conferencing tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities, with a capacity to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent proofreading and editing skills.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Preferred Experience:
- Previous experience with member associations or working alongside volunteers.
Education:
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program.
Working Conditions:
This role is set in a small, fast-paced open office environment with moderate noise levels. All SIR employees have the option for hybrid or fully remote work based on position requirements. This position requires the use of phones and computers for extended periods, as well as the ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
