New York, United States Two Sigma Full time

Two Sigma is a financial sciences company, combining data analysis, invention, and rigorous inquiry to help solve the toughest challenges in investment management, insurance technology, securities, private equity, and venture capital.

Our team of scientists, technologists, and academics looks beyond the traditional to develop creative solutions to some of the world's most complex economic problems.

As the Technical Program Manager, you will be leading a team of TPMs responsible for driving business-level programs across Two Sigma's Investment Management organization. Each TPM on your team will be responsible for developing, driving and reporting on a coordinated execution plan across multiple engineering teams for the project(s) or program(s) they own. They will also be responsible for resource planning, metrics definition and capture, and cost analysis. This will be done in concert with our Product Management, Engineering, and Finance teams. We will look to you to bring your unique expertise to the table as we evolve and grow the TPM discipline at Two Sigma, and you will be responsible for a team of TPMs that should strive to those standards. You will get to work alongside a group of extremely capable, motivated, and self-identified "nice geeks" looking to solve some of the most interesting problems at the intersection of technology and finance.

You will take on the following responsibilities:

  • With your Engineering stakeholders, define and drive program schedules to meet deadlines (or key milestones) and regularly report progress across the project/program portfolio.
  • Work with the broader Two Sigma TPM team to define optimal TPM standards and tooling.
  • Grow and develop the team of TPMs within your organization. Work with other senior TPM leaders outside of your organization to help assess senior-level candidates such that we mature the discipline more broadly.
  • Define key program and business level metrics and report out regularly. This also includes using data to strategically determine how best to utilize our resources to deliver the greatest business value.
  • Use judgment to build consensus to drive projects, schedules, plans, execution, and to communicate status to the stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Engineers, Product Managers and Finance teams to deliver high quality products through to production.

You should possess the following qualifications:

  • BS or equivalent work experience in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (an MS is a plus).
  • Minimum 7 years of experience required; 7 - 15 years of experience preferred in Technical Program Management.
  • Experience as a TPM Manager (5+ years should be as a Software TPM). Financial industry experience is a plus.
  • Proven track record of independently managing larger programs (20+ engineers) with longer time horizons (1 year or longer duration) and high business impact.
  • Considered an expert in the TPM domain and can clearly articulate the roles and responsibilities of the TPM. Prior experience developing and implementing TPM best practices is a plus.
  • Strong technical depth in the Software domain with the ability to articulate technical architecture and demonstrated history of facilitating technical discussions. Ability to identify and propose new technical solutions in conjunction with Engineering.
  • Experience managing a portfolio of projects/programs across an organization (including cross-engineering dependencies). Experience using portfolio management tools is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to "translate" sophisticated concepts into business friendly language and experience navigating relationships across varying stakeholders and levels of seniority.

You will enjoy the following benefits:

  • Core Benefits: Fully paid medical and dental insurance premiums for employees and dependents, 401k match, employer-paid life & disability insurance
  • Perks: Onsite gyms with laundry service, wellness activities, casual dress, snacks, game rooms
  • Learning: Tuition reimbursement, conference and training sponsorship
  • Time Off: Generous vacation, sick days, and paid caregiver leaves

The base pay for this role will be between $165,000 and $325,000. This role may also be eligible for other forms of compensation and benefits, such as a discretionary bonus, health, dental and other wellness plans and 401(k) contributions. Discretionary bonus can be a significant portion of total compensation. Actual compensation for successful candidates will be carefully determined based on a number of factors, including their skills, qualifications and experience.
