About the Role:

As a Technical Program Manager (TPM) at AppliedXL, you will be at the heart of our efforts to advance our AI-driven intelligence platform. You will coordinate cross-functional teams, oversee project timelines and deliverables, and ensure seamless integration of technical solutions that align with our strategic goals. This role will have you developing detailed project plans, defining project scope, and facilitating effective communication and collaboration among our computational journalists, engineers, data scientists, and other team members.

Your technical expertise will enable you to guide the development team, ensuring that technical solutions are aligned with our business objectives. You will identify potential risks, develop mitigation strategies, and make necessary adjustments to keep projects on track. Engaging with stakeholders to gather requirements, provide updates, and manage expectations will be a key part of your role.

In addition, you will track project performance, generate regular reports, and manage resources to ensure projects are completed within scope and budget. You'll oversee the work of technical staff, allocate resources effectively, and manage budgets to ensure timely project completion.

This role reports directly to the CTO to drive excellence in our product development and engineering efforts.


Responsibilities:

  • Coordination: Streamline workflows between the engineering and business teams, ensuring that projects are completed efficiently and on time. This is crucial in our fast-paced startup environment.
  • Strategic Planning: Align technical projects with the company's strategic goals, ensuring that the development work supports the broader business objectives.
  • Resource Management: Optimize the use of resources, identifying bottlenecks and reallocating tasks to maximize productivity.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks early and develop mitigation strategies, which will be essential for the dynamic nature of our business.
  • Communication: Facilitate clear communication between technical and non-technical teams, ensuring everyone is on the same page and understands the project status and objectives.
  • Process Improvement: Introduce best practices and process improvements, enhancing the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the development process.
  • Scalability: Help scale processes and systems, making the transition smoother and maintaining productivity levels.
  • Focus on Core Competencies: By handling the program management aspects, this role will allow engineers and technical leads to focus on their core competencies, such as coding and product development.


What We Are Looking For:

  • A strong understanding of GenAI and language models relevant technologies and the ability to engage in technical discussions
  • Experience with AI and machine learning technologies
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Waterfall)
  • Experience with project management tools (e.g., JIRA, Asana, Trello)
  • Excellent leadership skills to motivate and guide technical teams
  • Strong communication skills to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions
  • Strong analytical skills to assess project performance and make data-driven decisions
  • Experienced business acumen in order to to coordinate with business team and align engineering team and resources with overall business goals
  • Exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Attention to detail to ensure all aspects of a project are addressed
