About the Team: The Atlas Core Engineering team is a diverse group dedicated to both platform services and product innovation. Primarily located in a major metropolitan area, our team collaborates with partners across various regions. We are responsible for the essential platform functionalities of MongoDB Cloud Service products, which encompass critical backend services, identity management, billing, payment integrations, auditing, customer notifications, and experimentation. Our platform empowers feature teams to collaboratively develop a secure, modern, and customer-friendly SaaS experience.
Role Responsibilities: As the Senior Technical Program Manager for Atlas Core Engineering, you will spearhead strategic technology initiatives that underpin the services and platform utilized by all MongoDB Cloud engineering teams. You will oversee a team of TPMs tasked with managing timelines, communication, scope, and effort across multiple key areas, including projects, engineering operations, inter-team dependencies, and releases. Together, as integral members of the broader R&D Engineering Technical Program Management team, you will ensure the successful execution of complex, cross-functional engineering projects.

- Extensive experience in managing large-scale programs throughout the software development lifecycle, from strategic planning to successful product delivery.

- Proven track record of collaborating with technical stakeholders to methodically address engineering challenges, including goal setting, prioritization, and project scope definition.
- Exceptional execution and facilitation skills, particularly in ambiguous situations with competing priorities, with a knack for anticipating potential obstacles.
- Experience in building effective teams and fostering an environment of trust, collaboration, and intellectual honesty.
- Skilled in identifying growth opportunities and providing constructive feedback tailored to individual skills and working styles.
- Leverage your deep understanding of engineering operations and product development to craft innovative strategies for programs managed by your TPMs.
- Exhibit rigorous strategic and tactical thinking and execution.
- Lead and mentor a team of TPMs, challenging high performers while supporting those with high potential who require additional guidance.

- Proactively identify and eliminate obstacles that hinder TPM reports and product teams from achieving their objectives.
- Build alignment among cross-functional leaders through strategic partnerships that advance business goals.
- Serve as a trusted strategic partner to executive management, ensuring program success.
- Clarify complex technical environments, align stakeholder expectations, and manage engineering communications effectively.
- Facilitate engineering discussions by leveraging technical knowledge and analytical skills to summarize complex trade-offs, prioritize tasks, and streamline decision-making.
- 7-10 years of experience managing complex technical initiatives and engineering programs from inception to completion.
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
- Familiarity with MongoDB or similar technologies.
- Experience in technical design discussions with the ability to summarize complex trade-offs and prioritize effectively.
- Strong analytical skills and technical aptitude with a proven record of success.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, adaptable to various audiences.
- Within three months, you will have gained a comprehensive understanding of MongoDB products and the Atlas Core Engineering team.
- By six months, you will have developed insights into Atlas Core Engineering's role within R&D.
- In twelve months, you will be leading multiple cross-team initiatives.
