Job Title: Director of Business Development


Location: Boston, MA (Remote with travel requirements)


Position Overview: We are seeking a Director of Business Development to drive sales within K-12 schools, focusing on independent lunch programs, charter schools, and private schools. The successful candidate will be a dynamic, entrepreneurial individual with a strong passion for building lasting relationships and developing regional growth strategies. Prior experience selling contract food service management is required for this role.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute successful sales strategies, working independently and in collaboration with the broader team to achieve individual and team sales goals.
  • Build and manage a 3-year prospect pipeline using lead generation tools, tracking all activities in the CRM system.
  • Analyze RFPs/RFIs for financial and competitive viability.
  • Prepare technical and price proposals in response to solicitations, leveraging company templates.
  • Research competitor practices and identify opportunities for sales process improvements.
  • Attend client meetings and coordinate tastings to ensure bid requirements are met and relationships are strengthened.
  • Ensure compliance with state-level food service contract regulations, including registration and standard agreements.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal teams to promote comprehensive solutions to clients.
  • Maintain clear and frequent communication with leadership and update the CRM database with relevant information.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of consultative sales experience, with at least 3 years in selling contract food service management to K-12 schools.
  • Proven ability to meet or exceed sales targets and successfully negotiate and close contracts.
  • Experience in developing proformas and conducting financial analysis.
  • Knowledge of RFP/RFI processes and strong analytical skills.
  • Established relationships within K-12 school systems are a plus.
  • Self-directed, adaptable, creative, and results-oriented.
