POSITION SUMMARY

As part of Parish Life, the Community Engagement team emphasizes welcoming the stranger, increasing sense of belonging in faith and love as disciples of Christ, and the significance of witness and service as part of our Christian call.

The Program and Volunteer Coordinator manages the general volunteer management system for the Vicar’s Office and is directly responsible for managing volunteers for Compassion Ministries at Trinity Church. The coordinator focuses on utilizing TouchPoint for volunteer management, scheduling volunteers for their shifts, and communication between volunteers and Trinity staff. The coordinator facilitates onboarding processes for new volunteers with HR including in-person trainings, background checks and other protocol depending on the program. The coordinator is highly involved in parish life through meeting groups and supporting creation and development of community programs. The Program and Volunteer Coordinator for Community Engagement reports directly to the Priest and Associate Director for Community Engagement and works closely with the team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintains ongoing communication with Trinity departments about the need for volunteers and volunteer opportunities for Compassion Ministries. Updates information, communication, and scheduling of volunteers for Compassion Ministries in the church management system.  Monitors and provides reports about community service data from the church management system.  Manages recruitment processes of volunteers for different programs and events.  Facilitates and plans volunteer events with other volunteer coordinators under the Vicar’s Office.  Works across departments including Neighborhood Support, HR, Communications and Marketing, IT, and others to ensure volunteer participation and the implementation of Trinity’s volunteer policy. Is responsible for the onboarding process, definitions of roles, needs, communication, and reception of volunteers for Compassion Ministries individually or by groups.  Develops and maintains a calendar of volunteer programming including but not limited to, trainings, occasional events, and regular volunteer events. Remains informed on upcoming trends and interests that can help shape program opportunities. Identifies and capitalizes on opportunities to increase participant audience and partnerships for volunteers. Researches and develops ideas to improve community service programs. Maintains weekly/monthly reports of program offerings, participation, and lessons learned. Serves as pastoral presence in the Compassion Ministry programs and events in Neighborhood Support Department.  Supports the creation, evaluation and development of community programs as required. Is actively present in parish life and group events.  Represents Trinity Parish to others both within and outside the Trinity community. Performs all duties in a manner that promote Trinity’s mission and core values. Adheres to confidentiality rules and all other Trinity Wall Street policies, procedures, and rules. Assumes other related responsibilities and special projects as required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ACTIVITIES

Outstanding judgement and discretion in handling sensitive matters. High level of attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong work ethic and passion for serving others. An enthusiastic, energetic, creative, flexible individual who can juggle multiple priorities. Proficient computer skills and comfort with virtual and office-based technology, including Zoom, Webex, MS Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint. Outstanding interpersonal skills. Ability to manage and prioritize job responsibilities with minimal supervision. This position requires non-traditional work hours/days. Evening and weekend responsibilities required. Strong interpersonal and hospitality skills Flexible and adaptable to new priorities, work demands and policies. Excellent organizational skills for paperwork, event planning, scheduling, and email management. Skilled at online database management.
