Job Description

The Benefits/Leave Administrator oversees and administers leave requests and accommodations requiring specialized attention, particularly those arising under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), state and local leave laws, and short-term or long-term disability plans. Responsible for assisting with the administration of all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, and 401(k) plan.

Responsibilities:

Communicate with employees regarding their needs for leave and/or modified work schedules. Ensure that employees are aware of their responsibilities and of any documentation and notice required to qualify and to take leave. Handle the FMLA leave administration process from the employee's initial notice of the need for leave to the return to work.  Maintain reasonable communication with employees on leave to facilitate smooth and timely return to work; relay communication between employees and their managers during leave within reason. Advise managers and employees on the interaction of leave laws with paid time off, workers compensation, and short-term and long-term disability benefits. Oversee the return-to-work process for employees returning from extended FMLA, workers compensation, or other leaves. Facilitate other leave requests which may include accommodation requests under the ADA. Administer other company time-off programs such as Sundance Medical Leave in accordance with internal policy and applicable laws. Maintain complete and accurate records of leave and accommodation requests in accordance with specified legal requirements and documentation of best practices. Preserve confidentiality of employee medical documentation and files. Maintain knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodation laws including the FMLA, ADA, and state and local laws. Respond to benefit inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes, and other general inquiries. Ensure the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information. Coordinate yearly open enrollment. This includes participating in renewal discussions, setting up benefit plans in HRIS, providing resources to employees, coordinating education meetings, assisting employees with enrollments, and verifying data after open enrollment. Act as main point of contact for all safety-related issues; Manage workers' compensation claims, ensure compliance with all safety requirements under OSHA and state and local laws, address safety concerns, and coordinate safety training as needed. Monitor, review, and implement any new federal, state, and local labor laws applicable to our industry. Run monthly benefits reports and complete benefit invoicing.

Qualifications

A minimum of 1-3 years' experience working in a similar role Associates degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred in Human Resources, Business, or related field or equivalent work experience, as well as one more more years' experience in Human Resources Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws. PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred
