Essential Functions and Purpose:

The Benefits Administrator primary responsibilities are administering the health and welfare benefit programs and leave of absence cases. This includes all benefit plans and assisting employees with enrollment in all Benefit Programs, including group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, COBRA, AbsencePro, 401(k), life insurance, flexible spending plans, and HSA Plans. Additionally, effective coordination of all leave cases/claims to include general administration, comprehensive case management and program compliance with the Family and Medical Leave Act and all state/federal related employment laws. Performs exemplary customer service and assistance to associates, executives and HR business partners. This position will work with our service providers to implement a corporate wellness program which includes wellness initiatives and activities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Three years of experience in HR Benefits Department.
  • Two years of experience in managing leave cases FMLA, ADA and STD.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Suite applications, e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable federal and state employment laws (FMLA, CFRA, ADA, USERRA, etc.).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the subject matter expert for the health & welfare benefit and leave of absence programs in alignment and under the general direction and guidance of HR leadership.
  • Serve as primary contact with brokers, carriers and third-party administrators, responds to benefits inquiries from employees relating to status changes, plan provisions, and other general inquiries.
  • Manages all administrative aspects of 401(k) plan, leave claims to include health insurance payment and COBRA enrollment when needed.
  • Works with our current TPA AbsencePro to review and follow up on all leave denials. Coordinates and organizes all medical information and ensures that HIPAA and Employee Privacy guidelines are closely monitored and effectively executed.
  • Reconcile carrier bills by producing and balancing to reports to ensure accuracy of billing.
  • Process monthly billings and administrative fees for all group plans accurately and timely.
  • Oversee maintenance of employee benefit files, maintain group benefits database and update employee records.
  • Prepare employee reports for budget, incentive programs and other benefits reporting requirements and requests.
  • Acts as a liaison to payroll department to accurately update employee records.
  • Compile a variety of reports to get maximum utilization of the HRIS system including compliance reports and ad hoc reports.
  • Enter and ensure the accuracy of all benefits information in the HRIS.
  • Conduct benefits orientations and explain benefits enrollment systems, prepare and distribute benefits enrollment materials and document administrative procedures for benefit enrollments.
  • Partners closely with all HR business partners and on-site managers, providing training when needed.
  • Run the company Wellness program and initiatives.
  • Manage the Benefits’ email inbox.
