The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) invites applications for an Executive Director to report to the Institute of Biomanufacturing and Precision Medicine for North Texas (IMPRINT) Founding Senior Executive Director, Jon Weidanz, MPH, Ph.D. First funded by the legislature in the 2024-25 biennium, IMPRINT aims to grow the research and training capabilities for bio-manufacturing; foster collaborative research in precision medicine using genomics and multi-omics initiatives across institutions; develop entrepreneurial start-ups; and establish experiential training programs to support undergraduate and graduate academic programs.
For the role of Executive Director, Dr. Weidanz seeks a strategic advisor who also has strong capacity to coordinate and facilitate a range of initiatives and projects on his behalf. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with other senior leaders, internally and externally, to help to shape and drive research, innovation, and academic programs at IMPRINT and UTA and to make a lasting impact on the advancement of knowledge and innovation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Serve as a trusted advisor and confidante to the Senior Executive Director, providing counsel on a wide range of strategic and operational matters. Assist the Senior Executive Director in prioritizing incoming requests, issues, and decision making to make the best and most efficient use of time in pursuit of IMPRINT and UTA’s strategic goals. Coordinate and facilitate key initiatives, projects, and events on behalf of the Senior Executive Director, collaborating with stakeholders across the university and external partners. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, donors, sponsors, and community leaders. Support the Senior Executive Director in planning, resourcing, implementing, and monitoring strategic initiatives to advance IMPRINT and the university’s research priorities and goals. Provide exceptional leadership, management, and guidance on administrative matters, including budgeting, finance, human resources, facilities, faculty recruitment, communications, and operations within the institute. Serve as a liaison between IMPRINT and other units within the university, especially the Offices of the President, Vice President for Research and Innovation, Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations, and the Deans of Academic Colleges to ensure effective coordination and communication. Partner with the Senior Executive Director on the development and management of experiential training programs for biomanufacturing and clinical research opportunities for undergraduate and graduate academic programs and workforce development for professionals. Conduct research, analysis, and reporting on topics of interest to the Senior Executive Director, preparing briefings, presentations, and other materials as needed. Performs other duties assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. Five (5) years of demonstrated experience as a chief of staff, deputy, or senior advisor to an executive. Previous supervisory experience. Previous experience working in higher education and large research universities, in academic administration, and/or research administration, including innovation and entrepreneurship. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree and/or Doctor of Juris Prudence degree. Track record of increased responsibilities. Track record of success in budget and project management. Demonstrated experience working with deans, department chairs, center directors, and senior university leadership. Candidate must have demonstrated experience working with students (undergraduate and graduate students). Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of day-to-day operations of university administration. Demonstrated excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).  Demonstrated experience in personnel management. Knowledge of developing/executing master service agreements with external parties.
