Job Summary

cPort Credit Union is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Director of Underwriting. This position is responsible for the management and coordination of the underwriting department, ensuring the profitability of the credit union.

Key Responsibilities

  • Department Leadership
    • Oversee the activities of underwriting staff to achieve department goals and objectives.
    • Develop and implement strategies to improve the profitability of active accounts.
  • Process Improvement
    • Establish procedures and controls to enhance the underwriting process.
    • Monitor and analyze data to identify areas for improvement.
  • Compliance and Risk Management
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and credit union policies.
    • Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential losses.
  • Team Development
    • Provide coaching and mentoring to underwriting staff to ensure consistency and excellence.
    • Develop and implement training programs to enhance staff skills and knowledge.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as business or finance.
  • Relevant certifications, such as Certified Credit Union Professional (CCUP) or Certified Risk Manager (CRM).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, management, and external partners.
