Position Title: Clinical Nursing Faculty Member

Employment Status: Full Time

Campus: Portland, ME

Overview: The faculty member in nursing is appointed by the Director of the School of Nursing, collaborating with the Faculty Search Committee. This role can be classified as either Assistant or Associate Clinical Professor, and it is non-tenured.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging instruction in didactic, skills lab, and simulation settings according to the assigned workload each semester.
  • Provide academic guidance and support to students.
  • Supervise experiential learning opportunities as designated by the Director.
  • Contribute to the department, college, and university through meaningful service.
  • Maintain expertise in clinical practice and relevant content areas, ensuring compliance with health requirements.
  • Exhibit professionalism and ethical conduct in all interactions with faculty, staff, students, and the community.
  • Participate in university events such as Open Houses and Graduation Ceremonies.
  • Engage in interprofessional collaboration within the college.
  • Ensure a consistent presence in the School of Nursing to facilitate departmental functions and support student learning.
  • Adhere to Human Resource requirements for faculty roles.

Teaching Expectations:

  • Demonstrate effective teaching practices as reflected in student evaluations and peer observations.
  • Develop, implement, and assess both didactic and experiential course components, contributing to accreditation and improvement efforts.
  • Instruct in various formats, including classroom, clinical practice, skills lab, and simulation, while engaging in curriculum development and evaluation.
  • Advise and mentor students on academic and professional matters.

Service Contributions:

  • Participate in departmental and university committees to advance the mission of the department and community.
  • Engage in experiential or community-based initiatives that enhance student learning outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Nursing, with a preference for Nursing Education.
  • Current nursing licensure in the State of Maine.
  • 3-5 years of recent clinical experience in professional nursing.
  • Preferred experience includes one year of teaching in a nursing program at the college or university level.
  • Active involvement in professional nursing or educational organizations is advantageous.
