Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with developers and property owners on proposed redevelopment projects
  • Lead the rewriting of the City's Land Use Code and other policy initiatives
  • Engage with neighborhood groups, residents, and stakeholders to ensure robust public participation in policy and development issues
  • Present proposed City plans and policies to the City Council, boards, and committees, as well as in other public forums
  • Maintain effective working relationships with Directors and division heads from other City departments
  • Represent the City in various venues
  • Support a balanced approach to growth and development that reflects the vision of Portland's Comprehensive Plan and City Council policy direction

Requirements

  • Strong record of working with diverse stakeholders in a complex urban environment
  • Extensive knowledge of urban planning principles and practices
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Advanced degree in urban planning or a closely related field, and a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience
