Position Summary:

We are in search of a Laboratory Manager to lead our team in Lakewood, CO. This role is pivotal in overseeing laboratory testing services, ensuring adherence to established protocols and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily leadership and direction to laboratory staff, ensuring efficient operation of testing services.
  • Develop and manage testing schedules for asphalt, soil, aggregate, and concrete, while preparing detailed reports for clients.
  • Engage with clients to understand their requirements and address any testing or equipment challenges that arise.
  • Maintain and uphold AASHTO Materials Reference Laboratory (AMRL) and Cement and Concrete Reference Laboratory (CCRL) accreditations through regular calibration and preparation of equipment.
  • Promote a culture of safety and quality by ensuring compliance with safety protocols and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Implement the Quality Management System and communicate any areas needing improvement to management.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in construction materials testing or geotechnical engineering.
  • A high school diploma is required; a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related fields is preferred.
  • Proven experience in staff management, with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role.
  • A valid driver's license is mandatory.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
  • Familiarity with construction materials testing processes and equipment.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes such as ASTM, ACI, AASHTO, and CDOT.
  • Strong understanding of aggregate, concrete, soils, and asphalt testing methodologies.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and reports effectively.
  • Physical capability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Training in Radioactive Materials Usage is a plus (training can be provided upon hiring).

  • In-depth knowledge of the construction materials testing and geotechnical sectors.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage client needs efficiently.
  • Commitment to obtaining relevant certifications as required.
