Position Title: Radio Communication Tester

Position Summary:
IMTS seeks skilled professionals to support our Federal clients in evaluating field communication products and systems, ensuring compliance with established standards for operability and interoperability. This role involves testing and reporting on land mobile radio systems and other communication devices. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Field Communication Laboratory Manager to deliver testing services.

The evaluation process will encompass various communication technologies, including land mobile radio, microwave, cellular, and satellite systems, assessing their alignment with user requirements, industry standards, and agency specifications. Testing will be conducted in an ISO-17025 accredited laboratory, adhering to established protocols and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and maintain the laboratory's environmental conditions.
  • Manage the laboratory's internal computer network.
  • Maintain accurate records within the laboratory's repository.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO-17025 accreditation documentation, including quality management systems and operational procedures.
  • Engage with key personnel and clients to ascertain testing requirements and objectives.
  • Coordinate and schedule testing activities with clients.
  • Receive, catalog, and manage inventory of Equipment Under Test (EUT) and facilitate its return upon request.
  • Participate in client briefings to discuss test results and findings.
  • Safeguard testing results and sensitive information by restricting access to authorized personnel only.
  • Adhere to Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) established with clients.
  • Assist the Test Engineer with:
    • Configuring systems for standards and specifications testing, evaluating software or firmware updates, and simulating integration of new equipment.
    • Conducting tests in accordance with defined plans and established procedures.
    • Documenting results to address desired outcomes.
    • Generating detailed technical reports and summary reports for diverse audiences.
    • Updating test plans based on evolving requirements and industry standards to ensure consistent results.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in developing test procedures and conducting formal evaluations of field communication and Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems.
  • At least 2 years of experience in Information Technology (IT) networking, including Local Area Network (LAN) configuration.
  • Proficient in configuring and updating radio telecommunication devices via software and web interfaces.
  • Experience troubleshooting LMR systems across various frequencies and technologies.
  • Familiarity with electronic testing standards set by ISO and IEC.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards defined by TIA, IEEE, and ATIS/3GPP.
  • Understanding of radio theory and the ability to design and test LMR systems to meet operational needs.

Education:
Master's Degree or higher in a related field with 2 years of relevant experience; Bachelor's Degree with 2 to 4 years of experience; Associate Degree or Military/Industry Certification with 3 to 6 years of experience; High School Diploma/GED with 5 to 8 years of experience.
