Position Overview

United Global Technologies is seeking a Testing Laboratory Engineer to join our team. This role is essential for ensuring the integrity and reliability of our testing processes.

The selected candidate will be required to undergo a thorough background verification.

This position is onsite.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Overseeing and regulating the laboratory's environmental parameters.
  • Administering and overseeing the laboratory's internal IT infrastructure.
  • Managing and organizing the laboratory's documentation repository.
  • Ensuring compliance with ISO-17025 accreditation standards, including the quality management framework, operational protocols, documentation management, inventory oversight, and auditing processes.
  • Conducting interviews with key stakeholders and clients to ascertain testing requirements and expected outcomes.
  • Coordinating, planning, and scheduling testing activities in collaboration with clients.
  • Receiving, labeling, and maintaining an inventory of all Equipment Under Test (EUT) and ensuring its return upon request from the provider.
  • Engaging with the agency in discussions with clients regarding test outcomes and findings.
  • Safeguarding test results and proprietary client information by restricting access to authorized personnel only.
  • Adhering to any Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) established between the agency and clients.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
  • Master's Degree or higher in a relevant discipline with a minimum of 2 years of related experience, OR
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field with 1 to 4 years of related experience, OR
  • Associate Degree/Military or Industry Certification in a radio-related discipline with 3 to 6 years of relevant experience, OR
  • High School Diploma/GED with 5 to 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in developing testing protocols and/or executing formal evaluations of field communication and Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems.
  • Familiarity with Information Technology (IT) networking, including Local Area Networks (LAN) and switch configurations.
  • Experience in configuring and updating radio communication devices (P25 portables, mobiles, repeaters, base stations, microwave radios, dispatch consoles, etc.) through software and/or web interfaces.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting LMR systems, including UHF, VHF, 700/800, microwave, satellite, and dispatch consoles.
  • Understanding of relevant electronic testing standards set by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).
  • Knowledge of industry standards for communications as defined by the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and the Alliance of Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS)/3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP).
  • Comprehension of radio theory and the capability to design, implement, and evaluate LMR systems that fulfill departmental operational requirements.
