Position Summary:

We are currently looking for a Laboratory Manager to enhance our team in Lakewood, CO. This role is essential in overseeing the daily operations of our laboratory testing services, ensuring adherence to established protocols and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage laboratory staff, ensuring effective testing services are delivered in compliance with industry standards.
  • Develop and oversee testing schedules for asphalt, soil, aggregate, and concrete, while providing comprehensive reports to clients.
  • Engage with clients to assess their requirements and communicate the services offered by the laboratory.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to field and laboratory testing, ensuring successful outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the Area Manager and Project Managers to determine personnel and equipment needs based on client specifications.
  • Maintain accreditations from AASHTO Materials Reference Laboratory (AMRL) and Cement and Concrete Reference Laboratory (CCRL) through regular calibration and preparation.
  • Prioritize safety and quality by ensuring compliance with safety protocols and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Implement the Quality Management System and provide insights to management regarding areas needing improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in construction, materials testing, or geotechnical engineering.
  • A high school diploma is required; a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related fields is preferred.
  • Proven experience in staff management, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
  • A valid driver's license is necessary.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
  • Strong understanding of materials testing processes and equipment.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes such as ASTM, ACI, AASHTO, and CDOT.
  • In-depth knowledge of aggregate, concrete, soils, and asphalt testing.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and reports.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Training in Radioactive Materials Usage is beneficial and can be provided upon hiring.

Compensation and Benefits:
