POSITION OVERVIEW:

The College of Information Sciences and Technology (IST) at Penn State is in search of a Marketing and Communications Coordinator to enhance the college's strategic objectives and engage the wider community in its initiatives.

This role will take a proactive stance by collaborating with internal departments to grasp their priorities, resources, and objectives, aligning them with broader college and University goals.

With guidance and collaboration from the marketing and communications manager, the coordinator will convert this information into actionable strategic communication plans, oversee their tactical implementation, and adjust campaigns based on both quantitative and qualitative insights.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate daily operations by managing communication project requests and fostering cross-departmental collaborations and workflows.
  • Craft strategies that define and promote the college's brand identity.
  • Utilize marketing opportunities to boost student recruitment, alumni engagement, and research visibility.
  • Produce content for news articles, promotional materials, newsletters, web pages, social media initiatives, and digital signage.
  • Ensure all content and strategies comply with and are informed by Penn State brand standards.

This position involves daily collaboration with IST faculty, staff, and leadership, and regular communication with alumni, students, and donors.

This is a hybrid role that combines remote and on-campus work.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

This position requires a Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of three years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Exemplary judgment and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Capability to translate strategic goals into compelling content across various formats.
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Skilled in writing for diverse audiences, including prospective and current students, alumni, and the general public.
