JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Overview:
Penn State University Press (PSUP) is seeking a proactive and meticulous individual for the role of Marketing and Sales Operations Coordinator. Reporting directly to the Director of Sales and Marketing, this position is integral to the department and involves consistent collaboration with authors, vendors, and Press colleagues. Role location:
This position is based near State College, Pennsylvania; a hybrid work arrangement is permitted, but a minimum of three days per week is required at the Press office.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Exhibits: Oversee the annual planning and management of PSUP's exhibit program, including the development of ROI measurement reports; organize all logistics such as space reservations, program advertisements, compiling book lists, payment processing, and coordinating shipments of books and supplies. Travel to industry trade shows and conferences will be required.
  • Seasonal Catalog Management: Manage the circulation of title list feedback internally; gather copy and artwork files for distribution to freelancers; verify proofs and expedite coordination between freelancers and the internal team; build and manage the seasonal catalog in Edelweiss; create and manage graphic design resources as necessary.
  • Sales Support and Analytics: Collaborate with the sales specialist to develop target client listings; retrieve inventory and title reports from vendor platforms; conduct data analysis for the Press's book distribution partners; oversee communications regarding low inventory levels.
  • Author Events: Manage the sales component of author events, ensuring effective communication of information to representatives, fulfillment teams, authors, and venues.
  • Desk/Exam Copy Requests: Review and process requests and orders efficiently.
Job Requirements:
A bachelor's degree or equivalent education and/or experience is required. Previous experience in administrative and/or sales/marketing roles is preferred but not essential; familiarity with Excel is necessary; proficiency in Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Creative Cloud (particularly InDesign) is essential; exceptional organizational, proofreading, written, and verbal communication skills; strong attention to detail; self-motivation; ability to multitask; and adherence to strict budgets and timelines.
The salary for this position ranges between $42,000 and $61,000. Details on Penn State's job and salary system can be provided.
