The selected candidate will adopt a proactive stance, collaborating with internal departments to grasp their priorities, resources, and objectives, and aligning them with the broader goals of the college and the University.

With guidance and collaboration from the marketing and communications manager, the specialist will convert this information into actionable strategic communication plans, oversee their tactical implementation, and adjust strategies based on both quantitative and qualitative insights.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate daily operations by managing communication project requests and promoting cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Develop and implement strategies that articulate and enhance the college's brand identity.
  • Utilize marketing opportunities to boost student recruitment, alumni relations, and research visibility.
  • Create content for news articles, promotional materials, newsletters, web pages, social media initiatives, and digital displays.
  • Ensure all content and strategies are consistent with Penn State's brand standards.

At IST, we are dedicated to fostering a diverse community and providing an inclusive environment for faculty, staff, and students of all backgrounds.

We are committed to making earnest efforts to recruit, hire, retain, and promote qualified individuals from underrepresented groups, including women, people of color, diverse gender identities, individuals with disabilities, and veterans.

We encourage applicants to reflect on their engagement with inclusion, equity, and diversity issues in their cover letter and resume.

This role involves daily interactions with IST faculty, staff, and leadership, as well as regular communication with alumni, students, and donors. Therefore, the ideal candidate must possess the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and manage multiple projects efficiently.

This is a hybrid role that combines remote and on-campus responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A Bachelor's Degree is required, along with a minimum of three years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Essential Qualifications:
  • Ability to work independently, initiating projects and managing progress.
  • Strong judgment and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Capability to translate strategic goals into engaging content across various formats.
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Excellent writing skills for diverse audiences, including prospective and current students, alumni, and the general public.

Penn State offers competitive benefits to full-time employees, including medical, dental, vision, and retirement plans, along with generous vacation (24 days per year), sick leave (12 days per year), and paid holidays (14 per calendar year).

The salary range for this position is: $51,000.00 - $74,000.00.

CAMPUS SECURITY CRIME STATISTICS:

Penn State publishes an Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR) in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies regarding campus security.

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background checks in accordance with University policies.
