JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Overview:
Penn State University Press (PSUP) is in search of a proactive and meticulous individual for the role of Marketing and Sales Coordinator. Reporting directly to the Director of Sales and Marketing, this position is integral to the department and involves frequent engagement with authors, vendors, and colleagues within the Press. Role location:
This position is based near State College, Pennsylvania, with a hybrid work arrangement permitted, requiring a minimum of three days per week at the Press office.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Exhibits: Oversee the annual planning and management of PSUP's exhibit program, including the development of ROI measurement reports; coordinate all logistics such as space reservations, program promotions, book lists, payment processing, and shipments of books and supplies. Travel to industry trade shows and conferences will be required.
  • Seasonal Catalog Management: Manage the circulation of title list feedback internally; gather copy and artwork files for distribution to freelancers; verify proofs and expedite coordination between freelancers and the internal team; create and manage the seasonal catalog in Edelweiss; develop and manage graphic design resources as necessary.
  • Sales Support and Analytics: Collaborate with the sales specialist to create targeted client listings; obtain inventory and title reports through vendor platforms; conduct data analysis for the Press's book distribution partners; oversee communications regarding low inventory.
  • Author Events: Manage the sales aspect of author events, ensuring effective communication with representatives, fulfillment teams, authors, and venues.
  • Desk/Exam Copy Requests: Review and process requests and orders efficiently.
Job Requirements:
A bachelor's degree or equivalent education and/or experience is required. Previous experience in administrative roles and/or sales/marketing is preferred but not mandatory. Familiarity with Excel, proficiency in Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Creative Cloud (particularly InDesign), exceptional organizational skills, proofreading abilities, and strong written and verbal communication skills are essential. Attention to detail, self-motivation, multitasking capabilities, and adherence to strict budgets and timelines are also necessary.
The salary for this position ranges from $42,000 to $61,000. Additional details regarding Penn State's job and salary system can be provided.
