JOB SUMMARY


MARTIN CONSTRUCTION, INC. is seeking a dedicated professional to assume the role of Project Manager/Estimator. The successful candidate will oversee the bidding process and ensure the successful execution of construction projects.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare and manage bids for various projects including industrial, governmental, and private sector initiatives.
  • Facilitate and participate in regular meetings to discuss project progress.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with stakeholders including owners, engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and suppliers to foster strong working relationships.
  • Conduct site visits and bid meetings to assess project scope, challenges, and necessary estimation details.
  • Assist with project billing and manage change orders for assigned tasks.
  • Prepare comprehensive estimates and contribute to large-scale project planning.
  • Demonstrate self-management in handling responsibilities and adhere to company safety protocols.
  • Occasional travel may be required within a specified radius.
  • Develop detailed cost estimates through careful analysis of plans and specifications, including quantity take-offs.
  • Engage subcontractors in project bidding and manage the RFP process.
  • Support the creation of critical path job schedules.
  • Maintain professionalism under tight deadlines.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • At least two years of experience in heavy highway civil contracting is desirable.
  • Understanding of civil grading operations is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
  • Experience with bidding software, such as Heavy Bid, is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of estimating techniques, engineering principles, and cost management practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with strong organizational abilities.
  • Capacity to handle high workloads and quick turnaround times on estimates.
  • Exceptional mathematical skills are necessary.
  • A collaborative team player who takes ownership of the bidding process.
