Position Summary

Martin Construction Inc. is seeking a dedicated professional to assume the role of Project Manager/Estimator. The successful candidate will oversee the bidding process and ensure the successful execution of construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Timely preparation and management of bids for industrial, governmental, municipal, and private sector projects.
  • Facilitate and participate in regular project meetings.
  • Effectively communicate and foster positive relationships with stakeholders including clients, engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and suppliers to promote future collaboration.
  • Attend project walkthroughs and bid meetings to assess project scope, challenges, accessibility, and estimate requirements.
  • Support billing processes across all projects.
  • Evaluate field change orders for designated projects.
  • Prepare comprehensive estimates and assist with large-scale project planning.
  • Demonstrate self-management of assigned responsibilities.
  • Adhere to the company's safety protocols.
  • Occasional travel may be required within a 300-mile radius.
  • Conduct detailed cost estimations by analyzing project plans and specifications, including quantity take-offs.
  • Engage subcontractors and manage the Request for Proposal (RFP) process.
  • Assist in the development of detailed critical path schedules for projects.
  • Maintain professionalism under tight deadlines.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Preferred educational background in Civil or Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of two years of experience with a heavy highway civil contractor is preferred.
  • Understanding of civil grading operations is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with bidding software, such as Heavy Bid, is preferred.
  • Strong grasp of estimating methodologies, engineering principles, and cost management techniques.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong organizational abilities.
  • Capability to handle high workloads and rapid turnaround times for estimates.
  • Exceptional mathematical skills.
  • A collaborative team player who takes ownership of the bidding process.
