Job Overview

The Pipeline Supervisor will play a crucial role in overseeing construction activities to ensure maximum efficiency and adherence to project specifications. This position involves managing the layout, assembly, and installation of various types and sizes of drainage pipes. The Pipeline Supervisor will collaborate with the project superintendent to strategize the sequencing and scheduling of pipe installations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Directs and manages the daily operations of a crew ranging from 2 to 7 members.
  • Operates heavy machinery for the excavation, installation, and backfilling of drainage systems.
  • Plans pipe installation sequences to minimize disruptions to other construction activities and the surrounding community.
  • Conducts regular inspections of the work site to identify potential hazards and safety issues.
  • Ensures the safety of the crew by fostering a secure work environment that aligns with the company's safety protocols.
  • Monitors equipment performance to identify any mechanical issues, ensuring proper maintenance and operation.
  • Reviews and approves timekeeping for crew members.
  • Must be capable of safely accessing heavy mobile equipment.

Essential Skills:

  • Proficient in leading a team while maintaining strong work ethics and communication.
  • Able to comprehend work instructions and effectively communicate with management, team members, and project stakeholders.
  • Possesses a positive attitude focused on safety and productivity, with a keen awareness of Bedding and Shoring practices for piping.
  • Experience in concrete work is preferred, including forming and pouring.
  • Willingness to work extended hours in varying weather conditions.
  • Capable of lifting and transporting up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to stand for prolonged periods and perform physical tasks such as stooping, bending, and crouching as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Supervisor or Crew Leader.
  • At least 3 years of field experience in operating heavy machinery, managing underground utilities, pipe laying, and grading.
  • Extensive experience in heavy equipment operation.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret project plans, specifications, and contract requirements; knowledgeable about the materials, tools, and equipment necessary for completing the work; capable of calculating slopes, grades, and evaluations.
  • A valid Driver's License with a clean driving record is advantageous.
