Job Overview

Position Summary

Martin Construction Inc. is seeking a dedicated individual to assume the role of Project Manager/Estimator. The successful candidate will oversee the bidding process and ensure the successful execution of construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Timely preparation and management of bids for industrial, governmental, municipal, and private sector projects.
  • Participate in and lead regular project meetings.
  • Effectively communicate and foster positive relationships with clients, engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and suppliers to encourage future collaborations.
  • Conduct site visits and bid meetings to assess project scope, challenges, accessibility, and estimate requirements.
  • Assist with project billing processes.
  • Evaluate field change orders for designated projects.
  • Prepare estimates and support large-scale project initiatives.
  • Demonstrate self-management of assigned responsibilities.
  • Adhere to the company's safety protocols.
  • Occasional travel within a 300-mile radius may be required.
  • Generate detailed cost estimates through plan analysis, specifications review, and quantity take-offs.
  • Engage subcontractors in project bidding and manage the RFP process.
  • Contribute to the development of detailed critical path schedules for projects.
  • Maintain professionalism under tight deadlines.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Preferred educational background in Civil or Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in heavy highway civil contracting.
  • Understanding of civil grading operations is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with bidding software, such as Heavy Bid, is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of estimating techniques, engineering principles, and cost management strategies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong organizational abilities.
  • Capability to handle demanding workloads and quick turnaround times for estimates.
  • Exceptional mathematical skills.
  • A collaborative team player who takes ownership of the bidding process.
