Job Overview

The Facilities Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily functions of the facilities team within a designated area, ensuring all administrative and staffing duties are effectively managed. This role will also provide direct support to a specific Movement facility as the primary Facilities Associate, reporting to the Facilities Director.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise maintenance and repair activities for facilities in the assigned region.
  • Lead a team of facilities associates, ensuring that all locations are well-maintained and repairs are executed promptly.
  • Manage small capital expenditure projects as part of routine maintenance.
  • Oversee the facilities department budget for the region, aligning with departmental and gym objectives, approving expenditures, and collaborating with local Facility Associates to prioritize needs and costs.
  • Review and monitor Asana Facilities Task projects for each facility, ensuring timely completion of repairs and maintenance in accordance with budgetary constraints, while providing updates to key stakeholders.
  • Handle team management, scheduling, and payroll processing.
  • Assist in the recruitment and training of new facility associates in collaboration with the Facilities Director.
  • Serve as the primary Facility Associate for one Movement facility in the region.
  • Maintain a regular presence across all locations within the assigned area.
  • Ensure timely execution of regional Asana projects and effective communication with key stakeholders in partnership with the Facility Associate.
  • Act as the primary contact for the region, collaborating with Senior Directors to ensure clear communication regarding facilities matters.
  • Participate in regular meetings with the Facilities Director and other Facilities Managers to align with company objectives and policies.
  • Coordinate with the Facilities Director to provide staffing support for capital projects and other initiatives.

As a Facility Associate, your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting bi-weekly meetings with gym management to prioritize tasks and planning.
  • Utilizing project management software, such as Asana, to track and manage tasks.
  • Coordinating with service providers for specialized repairs and projects, while keeping gym management informed through project software and direct communication.
  • Developing and managing a maintenance calendar, addressing facility requests, and executing approved proposals.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with contractors and service providers.
  • Keeping detailed maintenance logs and reporting daily activities to directors.
  • Monitoring equipment inventory and placing orders as necessary.
  • Performing manual repairs and overseeing general upkeep tasks, including landscaping and minor construction work.
  • Conducting safety checks and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Responding to urgent maintenance issues outside of regular business hours as needed.
  • Maintaining a log of contact information for frequent service providers.

Success Metrics:

  • Providing essential administrative support to facilities team members, enabling them to focus on core responsibilities.
  • Ensuring all gyms in the region are properly maintained.
  • Facilitating efficient communication between facilities and operations departments.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while aligning with gym and director goals.
  • Competence in using power tools and ladders safely.
  • Ability to track and report on activities effectively.
  • Organized and efficient, capable of meeting deadlines.
  • Willingness to perform rope access work, with training provided.
  • Commitment to upholding Movement's core values.
  • Proficient in computer applications (Word, Excel, Asana).
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work at heights.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly to regional gyms.
  • Certification for working at heights.
  • Technical expertise in one or more building trades (4+ years of experience).
  • Experience in interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and conducting performance reviews.
  • Experience managing budgets in a project-based setting.
