Job Overview

SUMMARY:
This role involves the preparation and serving of healthy meals for students, ensuring a safe and sanitary environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Execute daily tasks as directed by the cafeteria supervisor or head cook, including food preparation, dishwashing, inventory management, and serving students.

• Prepare and present meals according to established menus and recipes, ensuring proper portion sizes as per guidelines.

• Conduct cleaning tasks, such as sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing work areas and equipment, as well as washing dishes and pots.

• Adhere to all local, state, and federal health regulations regarding safe food handling practices.

• Follow all security protocols and guidelines set forth by the client location.

• Maintain compliance with safe food handling procedures, including HACCP standards.

• Inspect and organize incoming supplies.

• Observe scheduled breaks as assigned.

• Participate in mandatory training sessions.

• Manage point-of-sale transactions and cash handling as required.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

• Consistently uphold all policies and procedures of Whitsons, including attendance, uniform standards, and break regulations.

• Support the mission and objectives outlined by Whitsons.

• Fulfill all mandated food handling certification requirements.

• Perform any other tasks assigned by management as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of all required training by Whitsons and other authorities.
Other Skills and Experience:
  • Proficiency in English to comprehend and execute job responsibilities.
  • Preferred: 1 year of experience in a professional food service environment.
  • Maintain a positive and professional demeanor at all times.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical demands outlined below are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
  • Regularly required to sit, walk, talk, and hear.
  • Utilize hands and fingers to handle objects, tools, or controls and reach with arms.
  • Stand for the majority of the workday while moving back and forth.
  • Lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, with occasional twisting required.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Work primarily occurs in kitchen and serving line settings.
  • Standing for extended periods is necessary.
  • Movement in and out of storage areas and freezers is required.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures due to cooking and refrigeration equipment.
  • Noise levels in the work environment can range from moderate to loud.
