Job Overview

SUMMARY:
This role is essential for preparing and delivering wholesome meals for students in a safe and hygienic environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Execute daily tasks as directed by the cafeteria supervisor or chef, including food preparation, dishwashing, inventory management, serving meals, and maintaining cleanliness of equipment and workspaces.

• Prepare and serve meals according to established menus and recipes, ensuring correct portion sizes in accordance with portion control guidelines.

• Conduct cleaning activities, such as sweeping and mopping floors, sanitizing equipment and work areas, and washing dishes and pots.

• Adhere to all local, state, and federal health regulations regarding safe food handling practices.

• Follow all security protocols and guidelines set forth by the client location.

• Comply with safe food handling standards, including HACCP guidelines.

• Receive and properly store incoming supplies.

• Adhere to scheduled breaks as assigned.

• Participate in all required training sessions.

• Manage point-of-sale transactions and cash handling as required by the position.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Consistently follow all policies and procedures established by Whitsons, including attendance, uniform standards, and break protocols.

• Support the objectives and mission of Whitsons Culinary Group.

• Meet all mandated food handling certification requirements.

• Perform any other tasks as assigned by management, adapting to daily operational needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of all required training by Whitsons and other relevant entities.
Skills and Experience:
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English to understand and execute job tasks.
  • Preferred: 1 year of experience in a professional food service environment.
  • Maintain a positive and professional demeanor at all times.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical demands outlined here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
  • Regularly required to sit, walk, talk, and hear.
  • Utilize hands and fingers to handle, operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Stand for the majority of the workday while moving back and forth.
  • Lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, occasionally turning side to side.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Work primarily takes place in the kitchen and serving areas.
  • Prolonged standing is required.
  • Movement in and out of storage areas and freezers is necessary.
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures (both hot and cold) due to cooking and refrigeration equipment.
  • The noise level in the work environment can range from moderate to loud.
