ROLE OVERVIEW AND DUTIES

As an Assistant Culinary Leader, your key responsibilities include:
  • Collaborate with the Kitchen Manager to supervise all kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation. Ensure adherence to established recipes, quality benchmarks, and health regulations.
  • Participate in the preparation of ingredients, sauces, and other components for various menu items. Monitor the cooking and baking processes to ensure consistency and outstanding flavor.
  • Assist in the creation of innovative, high-quality food items that meet market demands and guest expectations.
  • Manage food preparation and production for catering services.
  • Work alongside the culinary team to provide catering for special events and private functions, ensuring a flawless dining experience for guests.
  • Follow instructions and recommendations from the Kitchen Manager to maintain the quality standards set by the company.
  • Ensure a clean and safe working environment, guiding staff in proper food preparation, storage, kitchen equipment usage, and sanitation practices.
  • Regularly inspect all preparation and cooking equipment to ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and optimal operating condition.
  • Assist in managing kitchen inventory, ordering supplies, and ensuring proper ingredient storage to minimize waste and control food costs.
  • Handle daily requirements, functions, and last-minute events efficiently.
  • Responsible for training and mentoring junior kitchen personnel.
  • Coordinate closely with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth food service and accommodate special guest requests and dietary needs.
  • Foster and maintain positive working relationships among the entire kitchen staff.
  • Ensure that management practices and working methods align with Sally's core values.
  • Establish, maintain, and enforce consistently high-performance standards.
The Assistant Culinary Leader reports directly to the Kitchen Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Technical Skills: Comprehensive knowledge of Food Safety systems and procedures, along with food preparation and knife skills.
  • Language Proficiency: English; Basic Spanish is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience:
    • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
    • Formal culinary training is preferred but not required.
    • A minimum of 1 year in a leadership position within a full-service restaurant kitchen.
  • Certifications: ServeSafe Certified.
  • Work Environment: This hands-on role requires spending 90% of the work week actively engaged in culinary operations. Must be able to stand for up to 10 hours at a time and lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Details: Full Time, In-Person, with availability for Day, Evening, and Weekend shifts.
