The Senior Project Engineer role at Toyon Research focuses on individuals with a robust foundation in engineering, computer science, physics, and/or mathematics, complemented by strong programming capabilities.

The successful candidate will be a key contributor to technical efforts while also demonstrating the ability to lead and manage engineering projects effectively.

The technologies relevant to this position encompass autonomous system control algorithms, data fusion methodologies, remote sensing system integration (including Multi-Mode Radars, EO/IR systems, and Advanced IRS&T), electronic warfare systems, software architectures, and standards (OMS, FACE, STANAG, etc.), as well as networking, modeling, and simulation (AFSIM, NGTS).


Key Responsibilities:
- Lead cross-functional engineering teams to meet critical program milestones and execute projects within established budgets and timelines.
- Serve as the engineering representative for programs, ensuring consistent and effective communication with external stakeholders.
- Develop comprehensive program plans, estimates, and schedules, executing projects in alignment with these frameworks.
- Contribute to technical research and development efforts aligned with the candidate's expertise.
- Conduct system analyses, trade studies, author technical documentation, and create customer technical data packages.

Qualifications:

- A Master's degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical field from an accredited institution, along with progressive engineering experience.

- Demonstrated technical proficiency in engineering principles, concepts, and practices, as well as project management and leadership skills, including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet deadlines.

- Prior experience in technical project engineering or similar roles, with a focus on technical leadership and project execution.

- Excellent communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills to facilitate effective collaboration with various departments, management levels, professional and support staff, customers, and government representatives.

- Experience in one or more of the following areas: Autonomous control algorithms, data fusion techniques, Multi-Mode Radars, EO/IR systems, Advanced IRST, Electronic Warfare systems, Multi-INT systems, Software Architectures, Open Architectures and Standards (OMS, FACE, STANAG, etc.), Networking, Modeling & Simulation.

- Radio Frequency (RF) Engineering Principles (e.g., Software Defined Radios, Radar systems, Antenna Design, Electronic Warfare)

Estimation Theory:
- Tracking, Fusion, Correlation methods (e.g., Bayes Theory, Kalman Filters, particle filters)

Artificial Intelligence:
- Reinforcement Learning (RL)

Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis:
- Test and Evaluation with related systems
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, MATLAB, Python

The annual pay range for the Senior Project Engineer for Autonomous and AI Systems position is $150,000 to $250,000. The posted pay range values provide guidance on annual base compensation for the position, exclusive of overtime, bonus, and benefits-related compensation, based on a range of qualifications that may fit hiring objectives.
