Position Overview

Under the guidance of the Director of the Integrative Therapies Program, the Senior Research Nutrition Specialist collaborates with a team of international researchers on projects focused on nutrition and integrative medicine for pediatric oncology patients. This role involves coordinating research initiatives, managing data, recruiting subjects, and conducting interviews. The specialist will oversee databases for all research projects, ensuring accurate data entry and high-quality information management. Responsibilities also include assisting with applications to regulatory bodies for Investigational New Drug (IND) submissions and supporting the Principal Investigator with necessary documentation. The specialist will act as the primary liaison for a national study examining probiotic treatments for children with cancer, coordinating with various sites weekly and monitoring data collection and specimen handling. Additionally, the research nutritionist will dedicate some time to providing nutritional education and counseling to pediatric patients at the outpatient center. Opportunities within the international nutrition program, International Initiative for Pediatrics and Nutrition (IIPAN), will also be available. The ideal candidate must be adaptable, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple projects concurrently.

  • Research Activities - 85%

  • Coordinate, collect, and input nutrition and related study data for nutrition and integrative medicine studies into the REDCap database.
  • Collaborate on the development of grants and research protocols related to nutrition and integrative medicine.
  • Serve as the primary contact for multiple multi-center clinical studies in nutrition.
  • Ensure submission of all research studies to the institutional review board.
  • Assist with correspondence to regulatory agencies for IND submissions.
  • Maintain comprehensive clinical trials information.
  • Provide nutritional education as required.
  • Manage correspondence, generate materials, and perform administrative tasks for publications and presentations.
  • Execute related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience required; plus four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Registered Dietitian (RD) or RD eligible.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is preferred.
  • Familiarity with REDCap is preferred.

Other Requirements

  • Experience in counseling regarding dietary and lifestyle modifications.
  • Exceptional organizational, computer literacy, and communication skills.
  • Experience with data collection and analysis.
