Position Overview
The Nutrition Management Unit plays a crucial role in ensuring that older adults receive meals that are not only nutritious but also adhere to all relevant sanitation and dietary regulations. This unit provides comprehensive support in meal planning, recipe formulation, and food safety protocols.
As a Senior Nutrition Consultant, you will be part of a team that serves as nutrition specialists for community partners and older adults participating in meal programs. Your responsibilities will include monitoring and evaluating meal programs to ensure compliance with established nutrition service standards and health codes.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver expert guidance and training to program staff, sponsors, and food service providers on food service management and nutritional standards, including menu development, procurement, preparation, and storage.
- Evaluate and authorize menus; conduct nutrient analysis for recipes and meal plans.
- Develop educational materials on nutrition and conduct educational sessions for assigned programs; engage in community health initiatives.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with educational institutions, government agencies, and healthcare professionals; collaborate with health departments to ensure compliance with inspection protocols.
- Prepare detailed reports and corrective action plans as necessary.
- Contribute to the evaluation of Requests for Proposals (RFP) submitted to the agency.
- Engage in special projects and initiatives as required.
- This role necessitates significant fieldwork.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in fields such as foods and nutrition, food service management, food science, or home economics, along with four years of relevant full-time experience in a community-based, institutional, or healthcare setting.
- Alternatively, a master's degree in the aforementioned fields with three years of full-time experience in similar settings may be considered.
- At least two years of experience must involve monitoring and assessing or managing meal programs in a relevant environment.
