Position Overview

Under the guidance of the Director of the Integrative Therapies Program, the Senior Research Nutrition Specialist collaborates with a team of international researchers focused on nutrition and integrative medicine studies in pediatric oncology. The incumbent will coordinate research initiatives, manage data, facilitate subject recruitment, and conduct interviews with participants. Responsibilities include overseeing databases for all research projects and ensuring the integrity of data entry. The individual will assist with applications to regulatory agencies for Investigational New Drug (IND) submissions and support the Principal Investigator with necessary documentation. Additionally, the role serves as the primary liaison for a national study examining probiotic therapy in children with cancer, which involves regular coordination with various sites and monitoring data collection and specimen handling. A portion of the role will also involve providing nutritional education and counseling to pediatric patients visiting the outpatient center. Opportunities exist within our global nutrition initiative, the International Initiative for Pediatrics and Nutrition (IIPAN). The research nutritionist must exhibit flexibility, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.

  • Coordinate, collect, and input nutrition and related study data into the REDCap database.
  • Collaborate on the development of grant proposals and research protocols related to nutrition and integrative medicine.
  • Act as the primary contact for several multi-center clinical studies in nutrition.
  • Ensure submission of all research studies to the institutional review board.
  • Assist with correspondence to regulatory agencies for IND submissions.
  • Maintain comprehensive clinical trials information.
  • Provide nutritional education as required.
  • Manage correspondence, create materials, and perform administrative tasks for publications and presentations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned/requested.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience required; plus four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Registered Dietitian (RD) or RD eligible.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is preferred.
  • Familiarity with REDCap is preferred.

Other Requirements

  • Experience in counseling regarding dietary and lifestyle modifications.
  • Excellent organizational, computer literacy, and communication skills.
  • Experience with data collection and analysis.
