Role Overview:
This position is integral to the Lunar Permanence mission operations, focusing on the development of mission operations systems and protocols that support our various Blue Moon lander product lines.

To realize our vision of sustainable infrastructure for transporting crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface, we need skilled professionals who can enhance operational safety in lunar spaceflight systems.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain Mission Operations/Mission Systems focused Functional Hazard Assessments (FHAs) and Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analyses (FMECAs).
- Create and refine Hazard Reports, ensuring operational content is accurate and comprehensive.
- Collaborate with Human Integration teams to establish effective operational controls based on Human Error Analysis findings.
- Work alongside Safety teams to devise operational controls when hazards cannot be mitigated through design alone.
- Ensure that Operational Safety controls are integrated into Mission Operations/Mission Systems products, including procedures, telemetry displays, and operational data files.
- Utilize simulation software and hardware testbeds to validate operational products.
- Partner with ground and flight software teams to recommend updates that enhance operational safety.
- Advise system and subsystem engineers on safety-related design improvements and operational techniques for lunar spacecraft.
- Provide support during lunar vehicle flights, which may involve working outside standard business hours.
- Assist in the investigation and resolution of in-flight anomalies.

Qualifications:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or a related Engineering discipline.
- Proven experience in safety analysis and implementing operational controls to mitigate hazards.
- Comprehensive knowledge of spacecraft systems and their functionalities.
- A strong safety-oriented mindset and a proactive approach to improving systems and processes.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to foster trust and maintain positive professional relationships while contributing to an inclusive culture.
- U.S. citizenship or lawful residency is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in human spaceflight operations.
- Familiarity with NASA and industry safety practices.
- Previous roles as a spacecraft operator or flight controller, with console or control room experience.
