At Blue Origin, we envision a future where millions of individuals thrive in space, contributing to the well-being of Earth.
We are dedicated to the creation of reusable, safe, and cost-effective space vehicles and systems, fostering a culture centered on safety, collaboration, and inclusivity.
Role Overview:
This position is integral to the Lunar Permanence division, which focuses on the development of Blue Origin's various Blue Moon lander product lines.
In alignment with our mission to facilitate human habitation and work in space, we are constructing a sustainable framework for transporting crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.
As a Systems Engineer within the Lunar Permanence Program's Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) Requirements, Verification, and Certification (RVC) team, you will oversee the execution of program-level requirements and verifications essential for the development of the Human Landing System (HLS) and Human-class Delivery Lander (HDL).
Your collaboration will extend to Blue Origin LP elements, our National Team Partners, and NASA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop baseline implementation plans for technical standards in collaboration with Blue Origin and NASA technical leads, managing the workflow with element SE&I leads throughout the verification process.
- Establish protocols for requirement variances (deviations, waivers, and exceptions) and oversee the production, review, and closure of all variances against program and NASA requirements.
- Monitor metrics that effectively communicate progress in achieving technical standards and variances.
- Execute technical tasks and provide high-level technical leadership.
- Employ sound engineering and business judgment to ensure the design, manufacturing, procurement, testing, qualification, and delivery of the most efficient and effective products.
- Work autonomously towards long-term objectives, determining the technical goals of assignments and developing strategic solutions.
- Promote and exemplify Blue Origin's leadership principles while providing guidance to element teams.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Proven experience in utilizing design and construction standards for complex systems.
- Expertise in identifying and addressing requirement non-compliances, along with developing rationale and mitigation strategies for resolution.
- Familiarity with NASA development programs.
- Ability to cultivate trust, maintain positive professional relationships, and foster an inclusive culture.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- A minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering or a related technical field.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or legally admitted refugee/asylee.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with the Blue Origin SLD Program, either MK1 or MK2.
- Background in verification programs for complex spaceflight or aviation systems.
- Proficiency with requirements and V&V tracking tools, particularly JAMA.
- Experience in Agile team environments.
- Knowledge of NASA design and certification standards for human spaceflight.
- Familiarity with NASA's flight readiness certification process for new systems.
- Experience with NASA lunar, deep space, or planetary missions.
- Involvement in large-scale programs with multiple stakeholders.
