This position is integral to the Lunar Permanence division, which is responsible for the development of our Blue Moon lander series. Our mission is to establish sustainable infrastructure for transporting crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface, furthering our goal of human habitation in space.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the definition and validation processes for the Blue Moon MK1 Lander's Lunar Orbit, De-Orbit, Descent, and Landing (DDL), and Surface Phases within the Mission Analysis team.
  • Develop and analyze mission activities during these phases, including the creation of CONOPS and conducting system-level trades.
  • Collaborate closely with vehicle simulation teams, Integrated Product Teams, and mission operations, applying MBSE-based mission models.
  • Participate in risk assessment and decision-making boards to ensure the successful demonstration of our lunar lander.
  • Maintain ownership of CONOPS and mission activities, overseeing technical resource budgets and phase-specific verification and validation activities.
  • Evaluate vehicle simulations, test reports, and other analytical outputs, identifying and mitigating potential risks during system integration and testing.
  • Work alongside the mission operations team to translate CONOPS into effective procedures, flight rules, and mission planning.
  • Guide and mentor other engineers on the Mission Analysis team, generating and reviewing tasks and initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in aerospace engineering or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in space missions, particularly during late development cycles.
  • Proven experience in systems engineering with a solid understanding of major subsystems in robotic spacecraft.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience leading cross-functional technical teams.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Over 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Hands-on experience with planetary landers and vehicles designed for lunar operations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC), including vehicle simulations and interplanetary trajectory design.
  • Familiarity with spacecraft propulsion systems, especially cryogenic fluid systems.
  • A proven track record in managing spacecraft resources and addressing complex multidisciplinary design challenges.
  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing.
  • Subject matter expertise in spacecraft thermal systems, communications, CDH/flight software, and mechanisms.
  • Experience in mission operations.
