Position Overview:
This position is situated within the Lunar Permanence division, focusing on the development of Blue Origin's Blue Moon lander series. Our goal is to establish a sustainable framework for transporting crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface, furthering our vision of human habitation in space.

Role Responsibilities:
As a Systems Engineer in the Lunar Permanence Program's Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) Requirements, Verification, and Certification (RVC) team, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Implementing baseline plans for technical standards in collaboration with Blue Origin and NASA technical leads, overseeing the verification process with element SE&I leads.
  • Establishing protocols for requirement variances (deviations, waivers, and exceptions) and managing the lifecycle of all variances against Program and NASA requirements.
  • Tracking metrics to effectively communicate progress on technical standards and variances.
  • Performing high-caliber technical work and providing exceptional technical leadership.
  • Applying sound engineering and business judgment to ensure the efficient design, manufacture, procurement, testing, qualification, and delivery of products.
  • Working independently towards long-term objectives, determining technical goals, and developing innovative solutions.
  • Promoting and embodying Blue Origin's leadership principles while guiding element teams.

Minimum Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:

  • Experience in applying design and construction standards to complex systems.
  • Proficiency in identifying and addressing requirement non-compliances, along with developing rationale and mitigation strategies.
  • Experience with NASA development programs.
  • Strong ability to build trust and maintain professional relationships, contributing to an inclusive culture.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering or a related technical field.
  • Eligibility as a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee or asylee.

Preferred Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will have:

  • Experience with the Blue Origin SLD Program, specifically MK1 or MK2.
  • Background in verification programs for complex spaceflight or aviation systems.
  • Familiarity with requirements and V&V tracking tools, preferably JAMA.
  • Experience working within Agile teams.
  • Knowledge of NASA design and certification standards for human spaceflight.
  • Experience with NASA's flight readiness certification process for new systems.
  • Background in NASA lunar, deep space, or planetary missions.
  • Experience managing large, complex programs with multiple stakeholders.
