Overview:

This position is integral to the Lunar Permanence division, responsible for developing the Blue Moon lander product lines. Our mission is to establish sustainable infrastructure for transporting crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface, furthering our goal of enabling millions to live and work in space.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assume responsibility for the Concept of Operations (CONOPS) and mission activities related to lunar orbit, descent, and surface operations, utilizing Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies.
  • Lead and engage in verification and validation (V&V) activities specific to each mission phase, including both hardware testing and vehicle simulations.
  • Analyze vehicle simulations, test reports, and other analytical outputs to ensure mission success.
  • Identify and address potential risks or challenges during system integration and testing phases.
  • Collaborate with the mission operations team to translate CONOPS into effective procedures, flight rules, and mission planning.
  • Develop, break down, and assess tasks and initiatives for fellow engineers on the Mission Analysis team, while providing training and mentorship.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in aerospace engineering or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in space missions, particularly during late development phases.
  • Proven experience in systems engineering with a foundational understanding of major subsystems in robotic spacecraft.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience leading cross-functional technical teams.
  • Eligibility as a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or other lawful status.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Over 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Hands-on experience with planetary landers or vehicles operating in lunar environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC), including vehicle simulations and trajectory design.
  • Familiarity with spacecraft propulsion systems, especially cryogenic fluid systems.
  • Proven track record in managing spacecraft resources and resolving complex design challenges.
  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing.
  • Subject matter expertise in spacecraft thermal systems, communications, and flight software.
  • Experience in mission operations.
