The primary work schedule is Monday through Friday, with extended hours as business needs arise. This role can be performed at our Sysco Lincoln, NE, or Sysco Olathe, KS, offices.

JOB SUMMARY

This role is accountable for the management of financial forecasting and reporting for a multi-site region. It involves providing analytical insights into financial performance and identifying trends to recommend improvements in profitability, particularly focusing on operational expense management and inventory shrinkage.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze key factors affecting operational expense variances against planned budgets and previous year results.
  • Identify underperforming accounts and propose strategies to enhance profitability.
  • Deliver detailed analyses regarding the primary drivers of operational expense discrepancies.
  • Engage in the recruitment, training, and oversight of the Inventory Control Manager.
  • Assist in the recruitment, training, and management of finance associates and cashiers.
  • Collaborate with the Inventory team to pinpoint opportunities for reducing both operational and non-operational shrink.
  • Assess the financial implications of critical operational cost control initiatives.
  • In partnership with the Region Vice President of Finance, lead the shrink committee for the region.
  • Support the Region Vice President of Finance and Market Vice President of Finance in monthly performance forecasting.
  • Ensure that overall trends and the effects of key initiatives are accurately represented in forecasts.
  • Work with departmental teams to ensure comprehension of the overall forecast and the impact of their key initiatives.
  • Assist the Region Vice President of Finance in preparing the Annual Profit Plan (AOP) regarding operational expenses and initiatives.
  • Serve as the local expert in Sysco's analytical tools.
  • Oversee the preparation of all capital investment proposals for the region.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or Economics is required.
  • An MBA is preferred.

Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in financial analysis and/or accounting is required.
  • Prior experience in a managerial role is preferred.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Ability to analyze data and derive logical conclusions and recommendations.
  • Capable of leading and directing clerical staff.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Word and Excel.
