Position Overview:
The Industrial Automation Controls Specialist will play a crucial role in translating product specifications into effective solutions that ensure functional safety for systems related to machining, welding, and valve testing.

Key Responsibilities:
The specialist will be tasked with creating detailed schematics that outline the necessary hardware to meet design specifications. Additionally, they will modify and develop software tailored for global market needs.

The ideal candidate will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to guarantee the seamless integration of electronic and mechanical systems, all while adhering to budgetary and scheduling constraints.

This position encompasses both embedded systems and PLC-based controls, depending on the product line, making prior experience in these areas advantageous.


Essential Functions:
  • Designs industrial control systems as part of new product development teams, including complete electrical architecture and hardware design.
  • Develops comprehensive statements of work to facilitate support from global control engineers during design and testing phases.
  • Offers ongoing support for existing control systems to maintain product sustainability.
  • Provides technical assistance and troubleshooting support to clients via phone or on-site visits.
  • Assists assembly and repair technicians with technical support and troubleshooting.
  • Engages in control system design for technical proposals related to new business opportunities, including design concepts, specification reviews, and compliance documentation.
  • Leads research and development project initiatives aimed at fostering new technology and innovation.
  • Prepares all necessary design documentation, including drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), operational sequences, specifications, risk assessments, testing procedures, compliance reports, and user manuals.
  • Defines and conducts product testing as needed to support new designs or ongoing engineering efforts.
  • Oversees qualification programs to ensure timely completion of function tests, reliability tests, and electrical safety tests.
  • Conducts Electrical Safety Testing, including ground bond continuity, insulation resistance, dielectric withstand tests, and leakage current tests.
  • Supports operations by providing expertise on electrical equipment used for product testing in production environments.
  • Preferred experience in PCB layout and component selection for embedded control systems.
  • Conducts electrical analysis to support root cause investigations and corrective actions for customer returns and field warranty issues.
  • Collaborates with other engineers during design reviews and project proposals.
  • Ensures compliance of all control systems with relevant regulatory safety standards for various regional markets.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred; a Mechanical Engineering degree may be acceptable if accompanied by relevant experience in industrial automation control systems. A minimum of 5 years of applicable experience in the design, development, and testing of industrial automation control systems is required.

The ideal candidate will possess knowledge and experience in hydro-mechanical and electro-mechanical applications.


  • Comprehensive experience in designing industrial automation control systems, including PLC programming, HMI development, motion control, instrumentation, and electrical distribution.
  • Ability to develop specifications for control systems and instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with industrial automation control systems and field instruments, along with various hardware/software products and services used in process control projects.
  • Proficient in using Altium (or similar software) and AutoCAD Electrical for generating electrical schematics and assembly drawings.
  • Competent in utilizing lab equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, hi-pot testers, Megger, and multi-meters.
