Position Summary

The Director of Local Tactical Planning is responsible for leading the development and execution of local media tactical plans for designated clients. This role demands a blend of expertise, creativity, and strategic insight to foster collaboration among clients, agencies, and team members while guiding the team’s outputs and growth.

Reporting Structure

This position reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Local Investment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and nurture strong client relationships, acting as a pivotal local strategic partner.
  • Acquire a comprehensive understanding of clients' business goals, challenges, and opportunities, while staying alert to emerging competitive dynamics.
  • Develop insights into clients' customers' preferences and behaviors throughout the entire customer journey.
  • Direct the tactical approach in alignment with clients' omni-channel marketing strategies.
  • Oversee the creation and management of local media tactical plans and budgets.
  • Deliver insightful recommendations to account services and clients.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of budgets and media flow for assigned clients.
  • Facilitate effective communication with internal teams (Investment, Finance), clients, and external partners.
  • Generate perspectives on critical business issues and trends in the local market.
  • Lead the transformation of insights into actionable local strategies and tactics.
  • Conduct internal brainstorming sessions and client workshops.
  • Engage in new business presentations.
  • Support the Associate Director in mentoring junior team members.
  • Provide performance feedback to team members and recommend staffing solutions to management.
  • Serve as a resource for resolving complex challenges.
  • May undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
  • Champion multiculturalism and diversity inclusion in all tactical plans.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 9 years in media planning, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in both offline and online media.
  • Strong knowledge of local media landscapes.
  • Proven expertise in local strategic and tactical planning.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting to clients and maintaining internal documentation.
  • Strong management and motivational capabilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite, Nielsen, Kantar Software, IMS, Flowchart Software, R/F and Optimization Software, Social Tracking tools, MediaOcean, and Google Analytics.
