About The Naloxone Project

The Naloxone Project is a clinician-led nonprofit organization dedicated to creating an equitable and sustainable medical system that provides naloxone and saves lives. Our mission is to empower all hospitals, labor and delivery units, and emergency departments to distribute naloxone to at-risk patients, placing naloxone in patients' hands prior to their departure from the hospital, and to combat the stigma behind the opioid epidemic.

Job Summary

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will play a critical role in scaling the organization's operations, ensuring efficiency, sustainability, and operational excellence. Reporting to the Executive Director, the COO will be responsible for overseeing the organization's daily operations, implementing strategic plans, and driving organizational success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Leadership: Oversee day-to-day operations, including administration, programs, finance, HR, and IT. Ensure organizational processes align with strategic goals and mission.
  • Strategic Planning and Execution: Collaborate with the Executive Director and board to develop and implement long-term strategies. Establish and monitor key performance metrics to measure success and make data-driven decisions.
  • Financial Management: Oversee the financial integrity of the organization, including budgeting, forecasting, grants, and reporting. Ensure compliance with all regulatory and funding requirements.
  • Program Development & Delivery: Support the design, delivery, and scaling of high-quality programs. Ensure that the organization's impact is measurable and aligned with its mission.
  • Human Resources & Talent Development: Create a positive, mission-driven work culture that attracts and retains top talent. Lead efforts to foster justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) within the organization.
  • Board & Stakeholder Relations: Act as a key liaison between the board, staff, and external stakeholders. Ensure transparent communication with the board regarding operational matters.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in leadership roles, preferably in the nonprofit sector, public health spaces, pharmacy, and/or hospitals.
  • Solid operational and financial management skills.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing strategic plans and driving organizational growth.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience working with a board of directors and external stakeholders.
  • Passion for harm reduction, naloxone distribution, and removing stigma around addiction.

Compensation and Benefits

Competitive salary range of $95,000-$120,000 dependent on skills, experience, and qualifications. Medical/dental/vision. 403(b) retirement plan, and professional development reimbursement are included. Work-life balance is prioritized within the organization.
