Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Customer Service Assistant. In this role, you will assist our collections drivers in providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist collections drivers in servicing customers and ensuring timely delivery of materials.
  • Perform daily routine safety checks and pre-trip inspections on assigned vehicles to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Load all assigned materials according to normal operating procedures and report any violations to the supervisor.
  • Ensure hazardous materials are not accepted and that all materials being transported comply with legal load limits.
  • Report all accidents and/or safety violations to the appropriate authority in a timely manner.
  • Maintain good customer relations and positively influence the community's perception of the Company throughout all applicable service areas.

Qualifications

  • Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.
  • A typical way to qualify is:
    • One year of experience in resource recovery (e.g., waste disposal, recycling, etc.) or related field.
    • Principles and practices of job site safety, potential job hazards, and state and local regulations including applicable waste regulation.
    • Basic computer programs.
    • High school degree or GED preferred.
    • Valid driver's license preferred.
    • Current commercial drivers' license preferred.

Skills and Abilities

  • Perform continuous physical exertions such as repetitive lifting, pushing, and pulling receptacles as part of a rigorous daily routine.
  • Mount and dismount the truck.
  • Perform pre and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Work weekends, holidays, and overtime when needed.
  • Work in all weather extremes including extreme hot or cold, wet or dry conditions.
  • Promote the WASTE ZERO philosophy by making the best and highest use of all resources.
  • Work under pressure, handle stressful situations, and maintain flexibility.
  • Maintain high levels of activity or productivity; operating with effectiveness and determination over extended periods of time.
  • Understand safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Consistently build knowledge and expertise about current job.
  • Communicate effectively with peers, supervisors, and customers using a two-way radio or similar device.
