Position Overview:
The Lead Financial Strategist at Kansas Action for Children is responsible for delivering comprehensive financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting across various departments.

This role involves preparing and scrutinizing intricate financial data and reports while monitoring trends to devise strategies and provide insights to key executive stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Conduct budget and cost assessments, analyzing discrepancies between actuals, forecasts, and plans, utilizing insights to refine forecasts and advocate for operational enhancements.
2. Prepare monthly consolidations, reviews, and reconciliations of departmental financials.
3. Engage in financial analysis and modeling—extract and consolidate extensive data sets, create models from the ground up, and enhance existing frameworks.
4. Develop financial reporting and analytics; formulate annual budgets, monthly forecasts, and variance analyses.
5. Collaborate with Accounting and Corporate Finance on monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
6. Partner with business leaders to summarize and analyze critical data.
7. Provide financial support and manage communication with key stakeholders.
8. Exhibit knowledge of sound business practices and best practices in ERP usage, particularly in financials.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not have formal supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, economics, finance, mathematics, or a related field AND
Three (3) years of experience in financial analysis OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates and Licenses:
None required.

Other Required Qualifications:
- Proficient experience and knowledge in various finance functions (Budgeting, Consolidation, Performance Reporting, and Financial Analysis).
- Understanding of accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent time management and organizational capabilities.
- Experience with Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Ability to pass a required background check.

Desired Qualifications:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
- Master of Business Administration (MBA).

Compensation & Benefits:
Kansas Action for Children considers a candidate's education, experience, and qualifications, along with the position's work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market, and internal value when determining a new employee's salary level.

Salary ranges will vary based on these factors, the position's level, and expected contributions, as well as the employee's benefits selections. Eligible employees may receive a bonus. This salary is not guaranteed, as an individual's compensation can vary based on several factors including geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions.

Kansas Action for Children offers a comprehensive benefits package for eligible employees that may include health benefits, retirement contributions, and paid time off.
