Position Summary

The Senior Human Resources Consultant plays a pivotal role in overseeing complex personnel functions including labor relations, recruitment, employee selection, classification, training, benefits administration, and risk management. This position involves conducting in-depth analytical studies related to human resources challenges and providing expert support to the management team.

As a senior member of the Human Resources team, this role includes supervising professional staff and serving as an internal consultant across various human resources domains.

Individuals in this position are recognized as experts in their field, requiring minimal supervision beyond strategic policy guidance.

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are looking for a Senior Human Resources Consultant with extensive experience in labor relations, including handling grievances, implementing progressive discipline, interpreting and applying Memoranda of Understanding (MOU), and engaging in negotiations. Proficiency in recruitment, selection processes, and staff supervision is also essential.

The ideal candidate should excel in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating critical thinking and adaptability in various situations. Experience in coaching management through disciplinary processes is crucial.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, preferably in Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources, or a related field.

Additionally, a minimum of four years of professional experience in personnel functions such as recruitment, selection, classification, labor relations, or risk management is required, with at least three years of experience in public sector agencies.

Note: Additional experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirements on a year-for-year basis.


Licensing and Certification

Possession of a valid Class C California driver's license may be necessary.
