Position Overview

The Jewish Education + Bay Area Programs Manager plays a vital role in advancing Tawonga's mission by collaborating with the Bay Area Programming team to design and execute various local programs. This role involves supporting initiatives such as the B*Mitzvah program, Tawonga Family School, Tot Shabbats, holiday celebrations, and community service days. The manager will oversee program development, coordination, and administration for the B*Mitzvah Program and Tawonga Family School, while also assisting with summer activities.

Key Responsibilities

Supervisory Duties

  • Oversee lead Jewish Educators and Teaching Assistants for the B*Mitzvah Program and Tawonga Family School.

Program Management

  • Administer the Tawonga B*Mitzvah program and Tawonga Family School.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Director on hiring and training program educators.
  • Support summer functions, including transportation logistics and family communications.
  • Coordinate holiday programs and community events in partnership with local organizations.
  • Drive innovation and growth within existing programs.

Program Oversight

  • Manage B*Mitzvah classes, retreats, and educational gatherings.
  • Ensure high-quality experiences for participants in the Tawonga Family School.
  • Supervise educators and provide constructive feedback on teaching practices.
  • Lead Kabbalat Shabbat Services and adult education sessions.
  • Develop and adapt educational curriculum and lesson plans.
  • Foster relationships with diverse families and manage any challenges that arise.

Service Planning

  • Coordinate mentorship programs and oversee mitzvah projects.
  • Ensure effective communication and materials coordination for all programs.

Marketing and Recruitment

  • Promote the B*Mitzvah Program and Tawonga Family School through information sessions.
  • Achieve enrollment targets for both programs and maintain strong family relationships.

Professional Development

Engage in continuous professional development relevant to the role and organizational needs.

Qualifications

Required

  • Experience in Jewish education.
  • Minimum of 3 years in relevant roles.
  • Experience in program management and staff supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

Preferred

  • Strong managerial skills and experience in program development.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Work Environment

This position is primarily based in the Bay Area, with flexible working hours during the off-season and some evening and weekend commitments. Camp Tawonga provides necessary equipment and accommodations to support remote work.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time, exempt position with a competitive salary range and benefits package, including health insurance, retirement contributions, and paid leave.
