Position Overview

The Jewish Education + Bay Area Programs Manager plays a vital role in advancing Tawonga's mission by partnering with the Bay Area Programming team to design and execute our local programs. This role involves collaboration with the Assistant Director of Bay Area Programs & Partnerships to enhance existing initiatives such as the B*Mitzvah program, Tawonga Family School, Tot Shabbats, holiday celebrations, and community service days. Responsibilities include program development, coordination, administration, and management of the B*Mitzvah Program and Tawonga Family School, as well as supporting summer activities.

Key Responsibilities

Supervisory Duties

  • Oversee the lead Jewish Educators and Teaching Assistants for the B*Mitzvah Program and Tawonga Family School.

Bay Area Program Management

  • Administer the Tawonga B*Mitzvah program and Tawonga Family School.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Director on the recruitment and training of program educators.
  • Support summer operations, including transportation logistics and family communications.
  • Coordinate holiday programs and community events in partnership with local organizations.
  • Foster innovation and growth within existing programs.

Oversight of Educational Programs

  • Manage the B*Mitzvah program, including class organization, retreats, and Hebrew education.
  • Ensure high-quality experiences for families and educators in the Tawonga Family School.
  • Supervise and mentor educators, providing feedback and support for classroom management.
  • Facilitate family engagement and relationship-building with diverse communities.
  • Organize program-related marketing materials and testimonials.

Service Planning and Community Engagement

  • Coordinate mentorship programs and oversee mitzvah projects.
  • Support families in planning service details and logistics.
  • Implement holiday programming for children during significant Jewish celebrations.

Professional Development

Engage in continuous professional development relevant to the role and organizational needs.

Qualifications

Required

  • Experience in Jewish education.
  • A minimum of three years in relevant roles.
  • Two years of program management experience.
  • Proven supervisory experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

Preferred

  • Exceptional managerial skills.
  • Experience in program innovation and development.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Work Environment

This position is primarily based in the Bay Area, with flexibility for remote work. Camp Tawonga provides necessary equipment to facilitate effective work from home.
