Position Summary:

The Program Coordinator is tasked with overseeing the program's operations, which includes planning, organizing, coordinating, and directing the assigned administrative and financial functions.


Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Recruiting, supervising, and assessing the performance of Head Teachers;
  • Facilitating the training of all classroom personnel;
  • Supporting program administration, including strategic planning, vision development, and program compliance.

Additionally, the role involves demonstration teaching, providing consultation, fostering team collaboration, problem-solving, offering constructive instructional support, and preparing training sessions.


Coaching and Supervision:

The Program Coordinator is responsible for mentoring and supervising Head Teachers in two primary areas:

  1. Best Practices in:
    Professional ethics, relationships among teachers and children, parent-teacher interactions, supervision, developmentally appropriate activities, curriculum implementation, and child observation and evaluation.
  2. Inclusion of Children with Special Needs:
    Curriculum adaptation, planned activities, addressing individual needs, and identifying unmet needs for children.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or a related field is required, along with a minimum of 5 years of management and supervisory experience in an Infant/Toddler child development program. A Master’s degree is preferred.

Candidates must hold or be eligible for the State of California Commission on Teacher Credentialing Site Supervisor Permit or higher.

Successful candidates will pass a Department of Justice fingerprint clearance and a Child Abuse Index clearance as mandated by licensing.

Demonstrated ability to foster teamwork in implementing all Felton programs and projects is essential.

Experience working with children with identified special needs is crucial.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required, along with the ability to coordinate various tasks involving multiple staff members to meet specific deadlines.

Thorough knowledge of Title V, Title 17, and Title 22 regulations is necessary.

Completion of all required licensing forms, including LIC 9052, is mandatory.

Mandated Reporting training is required and must be renewed every two years.

Current certification in Pediatric First Aid/CPR, along with an additional 8 hours of preventative health and safety training, is required.

Demonstrated leadership skills and excellent writing and oral communication abilities are essential.

Adherence to the principles of Early Childhood Education and the NAEYC Code of Ethics is expected.

Knowledge of State and City Early Childhood Care and Education contracts, including PFA/HSA, C-Wages, and Vouchers contracts, is preferred.

Familiarity with the Pyramid Teaching Model (CSEFEL) and California Infant/Toddler Learning, Preschool Learning Foundations, and Development Program Guidelines is beneficial.

Understanding of PITC standards for Infant/Toddler Care and concepts of responsive/individualized care and primary groups is advantageous.

Awareness and sensitivity to the cultural backgrounds of staff, children, and families are important.

Ability to work independently under broad supervision and be a collaborative team player with a welcoming attitude and flexibility is required.

Demonstrated good judgment and crisis management skills are necessary.

Physical ability to pass a medical examination to meet Title 22 regulations is required.

Capability to lift 25-40 lbs, bend, stoop, sit on the floor, and raise oneself from the floor during classroom activities is essential.

Ability to move quickly in emergencies is required.

Proficiency in various computer software applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat) is expected.
